Identity

The naval ideal forms the backbone of the Kavyatian identity. A good work ethic and personal integrity are ingrained in the city's culture. Engineers, especially civil and industrial, are held in high regard and engineering overall is seen as a prestigious field with high standards.

Economy

Kavyat is a major center for education and manufacturing, especially of ships. Many of the foreign cargo ships which frequent the Albarine Sea, especially the oil tankers, have been serviced in Kavyat at some point and the vast majority of Durnstaal's cargo ships were assembled in the city's shipyards. 3 of Durnstaal's 5 most prestigious universities are located in Kavyat and the city's public education system is rated the best in the country. Kavyat's role as a shipping hub and manufacturing center has decreased significantly over the last 50 years as Piva became a more economically viable city, although industrial equipment and canned foodstuffs still make up significant portions of the local economy.
