The Tine Armed Forces is a military organization responsible for the defense of Tine. It consists of four branches, the Tinegardian Army, the Royal Tine Navy which includes the Coast Guard, the Royal Tine Airforce, and the Royal Tine Guard.

The military force in peacetime is about 25,000 personnel including both military and civilian staff, and around 64,250 total with the current military personnel, conscripts, and the Royal Tine Guard in full mobilization.

History

An organized military was first assembled in Tine as early as the 9th century and its focus was on naval warfare. The army was created in 1632, but has not been in an armed conflict since its creation. After the World War, there was a build up of air stations and military bases, especially in Staheim.

Organization

The formal commander-in-chief is Martin II; however, the de facto supreme decision-making is made by the Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister. The Chief of Defense (a four-star general or admiral) is the professional head and leader of the armed forces, and is the principal military adviser to the Minister of Defense. The Chief of Defense and his staff is located at Porsstrand in Tinegard. The main naval base is Holstansvern in Staberg, the main army camps are in Harnes, Sognvik and Drøske, and the main air station is Varland.

Conscription

Tine employs a weak form of mandated military service for men and women. In practice recruits are not forced to serve, recruiters select those are who motivated to serve.
