New Altai is the fifth-largest city of Albarine with a population of 491,000 people. It is located on the northern interior of Zalluabed Bay and is a major crossroads between Zalluabed. It is well known for its beaches and parks, which are renowned internationally and often used for recreational and sporting events like surfing, rowing, cycling, and sail boating. The city hosted the 1983 World Cup. It is located in a cove between the Bay and the Taylor Mountains, which allows for isolated and unique weather. New Altai's wet season typically arrives in late November to early December and brings with it heavy monsoonal downpours, spectacular lightning displays, and increased cyclone activity. During the dry season, the city has clear skies and mild sea breezes from the harbour.
