The Confederacy of Versenia, most commonly known as Versenia, is a nation in the Coalition of Crown Albatross located on the continent of Nortua bordered by Kyti, North Shebat, South Shebat, and Candatora. Versenia has a mostly mountainous terrain with a mainly continental climate. The country, marked by significant biological diversity, is one of the most water-rich in Nortua, with a dense river network, a rich aquifer system, and significant karst underground watercourses. Over half of the territory is covered by forest. The human settlement of Versenia is dispersed and uneven.
Versenia has historically been the crossroads of Eastern and Western Nortuan languages and cultures. Ethnic Versenians make up more than 80% of the population. Shebatis are the largest minority. The east Nortuan language Seravian is the official language throughout the country. Versenia is a largely secularized country, but Catholicism and Lutheranism have significantly influenced its culture and identity. The economy of Versenia is moderate, open and export-oriented and is thus strongly influenced by the conditions of its exporting partners' economies. This is especially true with Kyti, Versenia's biggest trade partner. The main economic driver for the country is the services industry, followed by manufacturing and construction.
With a rich history spanning thousands of years, Versenia has historically formed part of many kingdoms including the ancient Elbresian empires and the middle age Candatoran kingdoms. In 1878, Versenians exercised self-determination for the first time after the introduction of multi-party representative democracy. Versenia is a developed country with an advanced high-income economy.
