Aziallis | Adopted from the Skaje legal code into the Azillain Penal Code in 1762. | 1957 | 1974 | None | The Azillian Penal Code which was brought to power by the Constituent Assembly in 1811 was drawn heavily from the Skaje Legal Code of Union (which were drafted by Ulo Skaje in 1762 at the direction of Serer Arart). The Death Penalty was allowed for a variety of serious offenses and could only be delivered by a Judge of a Court. The Azillian Penal Code gives the Courts the right to decide whether crimes committed by a certain individual deserve death penalty.
Till before 1940, a Monarch had the privilege to give a "Pardon from Death" to an individual on death row seeking mercy. In 1940, the Parliament led by then Prime Minister Venere Mazhetorih amended the Penal Code, scraping the Pardon Privilege as well as making it harder for those charged with sedition to appeal their death penalty conviction by lower courts. Because of such rules, Aziallis executed more than 3000 individuals between 1940 and 1953. In 1955, then Prime Minister Bizhvo Svave amended the Penal Code again, though this time around, he empowered a Commission called the Mercy Commission, led by the Chairperson of the Executive Council, to grant mercy. The Commission overruled the death penalty in 93% of the cases brought in front of it, effectively scrapping the death penalty. But Svave was unsuccessful in getting the death penalty removed from the books. By 1973, 9 States and all Autonomous Entities of Aziallis has abolished the death penalty, and not a single execution had taken place since 1957. Then Prime Minister Charita Sukerni, in 1974, proposed the Bill to remove the death penalty from the Penal Code and finally managed to get approval from the Parliament as well as the Executive Council. Governors of Ajenta and Freyerka opposed the law in the UEC vote, and even sued the Union Government in the Supreme Court, though their writs were rejected by the Court. No bills to reinstate the death penalty have managed to even get out of Parliamentary Committees since then. | ||||||||

While there are 7 states which include capital punishment within their sentencing statutes, some states (such as Newley and Wildespell) have yet to execute anyone since 1976, as demonstrated by the lack of any executions by these states out of the 1317 total executions which have taken place as of December 5, 2015. No executions took place from 1967 to 1977, owing in part to a Prybourne Supreme Court ruling striking down arbitrary imposition of the death penalty. In 1976, that Court ruled that, under appropriate circumstances, capital punishment may constitutionally be imposed; since the decision there have been more than 1,300 executions, a majority of these taking place in three states: Woodland , Bydale, and Bysummer. Five state legislatures in the modern era have abolished the death penalty, though two of those laws (in Morwall and Limwick) were not retroactive.
