Montecara–Enrico Dulio International Airport is an international airport located in the city-state of Montecara in Euclea. Located on the island's western coast and covering an area of approximately 11 square kilometers, it is Montecara's only major airport. It is named after the Montecaran explorer, ambassador, and merchant Enrico Dulio.
The airport is owned by the Montecaran state and operated by Porti de Montecara, the state-owned port and airport management company. It operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is a fortress hub for Aeracara, Montecara's flag carrier, as well as a hub for its subsidiaries, Presto and Aeracara Cargo. It is also the primary air base for the Montecaran military, which provides air traffic control. Firefighting services are provided by the Spartoli.
Montecara–Enrico Dulio is a high-demand airport thanks to the city-state's strategic location on major air routes between Euclea and Coius and status as a major tourism and business destination. It is also an important intermodal hub thanks to its connections to the Port of Montecara and the Euclean rail network. It employs approximately 1,500 staff, not including those working in its restaurants and retail establishments. It is thus an important part of the Montecaran economy and a vital link to the rest of the world.
Because Montecara is a city-state, the airport is in the unusual position of being international-only (aside from incidental helicopter and military traffic). Its maximum capacity is 60 movements (30 landings) per hour.
Terminals
Montecara–Enrico Dulio has two passenger terminals: Terminal A and Terminal B. They are physically connected, and walking time is approximately 30 minutes end-to-end, though a shuttle service is provided. They share a common airside concourse, so there is no security checkpoint between the two terminals.
Terminal A has 34 gates and an area of 57,000 square meters. After Montecara joined the Zilverzee Area in 1994, it was renovated into a dedicated Zilverzee terminal without passport control but retaining red and green channels for customs. Terminal B is smaller, with 27 gates and and area of 52,800 square meters, and serves mostly long-haul flights. It is also home to the flagship Vìla Aeracara lounge.
Airlines and destinations
Ground transportation
Rail
Viaurea regional rail line E connects the airport directly with Montecara's city center. The journey to Montecara Pòrta Conìxia railway station is 55 kilometers and the train makes only three intermediate stops, for a total journey time of approximately thirty-five minutes. Trains leave as often as every five minutes during peak times. Lines E and F also provide a connection to the ferry terminal at Xarìa one stop north.
Bus
VM bus services operate between the airport and destinations along the western coast of Montecara, with some services continuing to the city center.
Taxi and limousine
Taxis are readily available at curbside stands; the standard rate between the airport and the city center is set by regulation at a flat Ł260, which includes fare for up to four passengers and as much baggage as can reasonably fit in the taxi. Several companies offer limousine and private car service to and from the airport, as do some hotels.
Private car
There are designated drop-off and arrival points for private cars at each terminal. Car rental is available onsite.
Foot and bicycle
The airport is accessible via the national network of mixed-use paths. Secure bicycle parking and bicycle rental facilities are onsite.
