The Catholic Church of Zamastan, also known as the Zian Catholic Church is the largest catholic church in Zamastan. It split from the larger Church of Verdusa in 1689 after Skithan colonists separated from the Verdusan institution and at the time was known as the Church of Skithan Fellowships. Originally, the church renounced the authority of the Patriarch of the Church of Verdusa, though they nowadays find many modern similarities. The church is headquartered in Providence, Northern Isle, Zamastan, led by the Archbishop of Zamastan, currently William Gilmoresi.
The primary rift between the Catholic Church of Zamastan and the Church of Verdusa regards the sacrament of the Eucharist, where the Zamastanian branch follows the belief that consecrated bread and wine becomes the body and blood of Christ. The Church of Verdusa maintains that the blood and wine become only blessed symbols of Christ's body and blood. The two churches share similarity in their criticisms: traditionalist beliefs surrounding its refusal to ordain women, as well as the handling of sexual abuse cases involving clergy, have dominated the majority of the Zamastanian church's scandal.
