Spatharokoubikoularioi

The Spatharokoubikoularioi (singular: Spatharokoubikoularios) are a corps of bodyguards in Tagmatium. The name means "Sword-Chamberlains" in Anglish. The head of the organisation is known as the Praipositos tou Spatharokoubikoulariou (Laimiaic for "Provost of the Spatharokoubikoularioi"). The uniform of the corps consists of black robes with gold-painted armour. Their role is the protection of the Tagmatine Senates, the Senators, the property of the Senates and the institutions themselves. To this end, they enforce the laws of Tagmatium within the Senate buildings and their grounds and provide protection details to the Senate members. Their badge of office is a gold-handled sword, which they are required to wear at all times. They have the full authority and powers of arrest of police officers of Tagmatium. Spatharoukoubikoularioi often pursue offences and crimes against the Senates and senators beyond the boundaries of the buildings themselves, such as threats against the safety of the Senates and the Senators themselves.
