Artillery Support Bear

Joint-TRIDENT Symbol for ASB

An artillery support bear (ASB), referred to as an artilleribjörn in Nyantastan, is the Commonwealth Defence Forces designation for specially trained brown bears. These bears are assigned to heavy artillery units and trained to deliver ammunition to the guns. Training these bears is proving to be more than difficult and is currently more of a pilot program that is being tested in three artillery brigades so far. Since training wild bears is difficult, attempts are being made to domesticate them.

Military Usage

artilleribjörn in Training Exercise

Up to now, first attempts are running. A total of 24 ASB have already been deployed, and they have been trained. By treating them human-like and training the simple copying of certain tasks to such an extent that they prove useful on the front lines. This allows them to carry ammunition weighing up to 500 kg on their own. This allows the guns to operate faster and shorten loading times.
