The Oil Wars, also known as the Y War and the Z War, were a set of global conflict that lasted from 2020 to $year, although related conflicts were in some places resolved later. It involved the vast majority of Eurth nations — including all the great powers — eventually forming multiple opposing military alliances: the As and the Bs. It was the most destructive war in history, and directly involved more than xxx million people from over xx countries. In a state of "total war", the major participants threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Marked by mass deaths of civilians and the strategic bombing of industrial and population centres (in which approximately x million were killed) and including, at its close, the use of atomic weapons, it resulted in an estimated xx million to xx million fatalities. These made the war the deadliest conflict in human history.
Background
Eurth's oil reserves began running out in the year 2020. Word leaked out of the OPEC meetings, and the proposed rationing of production hurt the smaller producers and refineries. Crude oil suppliers formed their own organization called the $Name on $Date 2020. OPEC sent a message to the $Name indicating that their disagreement would not harm the mutually beneficial relationship regarding transport and distribution. But later that week, news media were already leaking the internal disagreements. LUE governments sent a delegation to the oil organisation to oppose the rationing, without much success.
