The Prymontian National Football Team, commonly referred to as the Yetis is the national football team of Prymont. The team is overseen by the Prymontian Football Federation, and is a member of both the Argic and Northern Alharun Football Association (ANAFA) and the Union of National Football Associations (UENA). Before qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Orioni, the Yetis were considered one of the worst teams in the ANAFA, and have only qualified for two world cups since their formation in 1995.

History

Prymont's football history dates back to the middle of the 20th century, when football gained mass global support. Small, unorganised local teams in the Prymontian territories suddenly developed lots of interest, and were quickly organised into leagues in their respective countries. However, due to a lack of widespread interest and government funding, training facilities were poorly implemented and maintained, meaning that none of the countries from the Prymontian region qualified for a world cup.

Upon the founding of the United States in 1995, the socialist government decided that Prymont needed greater representation in global sports, and went about funding serious footballing efforts. The PFA were founded, and the national team's applications for UENA and ANAFA were accepted. The team found a home at the newly constructed Central Canastota Sports Stadium, the largest arena in the country. Heated floors, efficient drainage systems, and an overhead roof allowed the team to train throughout the year, and under the guidance of then-Head Coach Peder Villanger, the team successfully qualified for the 1998 World Cup. Despite featuring star players such as Mio Mikalsen and Abel Winther, the team failed at the group stages.

Villanger retired in 2003 after his team failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup, and the squad subsequently went through a variety of poor staff and players for the rest of the decade. The Yetis were known as one of the worst performing teams in the continent, and became the laughing stock of Prymont. However, this all changed after the 2011 elections, as the government pumped more money into the team and established grassroots training programmes, to identify potential future stars and have them train with some of the best football veterans in Argis. The team failed once more to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, resulting in the public questioning where the money was being spent and when they would see the benefits of such expense.

Nojus Fauskanger was hired as team manager in 2015, and began reforming the squad to become a team to be reckoned with. His aim was to combine the best experienced players with young promising talents, and with the addition of unique unconventional training regiments, the team finally began seeing some success. They reached the semi finals of the 2016 ANAFA league, and managed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup - once again, they were eliminated at the group stages. Several key players had been identified though, and with the addition of more youngsters, the team continued to rise through the ranks.
