The Department of National Security is a Delamarian government department that is responsible for public security. The department was founded in July 2021 by President of Delamaria Deborah Van Roose and Vice President William Patton was nominated to lead the department as Secretary, whilst DSS Director Bruce Axelrod was chosen to be Deputy Secretary. The department was originally proposed as the Department of Home Affairs, however the name was changed to better represent the purpose of the agency.
The department oversees The DSS, Border Protection Agency, the Immigration and Customs Bureau, the Commonwealth Police, the Arms, Weapons and Explosives Agency (AWE), the National Transportation Security Office, the Narcotics Enforcement Administration, the Disaster Relief Agency and the Office of Emergency Planning. The department also has partial oversight of the Investigation Bureau (InBe), along with the Department of Justice.
