Jade Cover is a major port city within The Republic of Pentium, sitting on the Western Coast of the Republic. The city was founded on a small hill that has been built on throughout its history, the port has

been modernized dozens of times in its history as well, much like its sister city Saltbrook Channel. Serving as the secondary large port city and the headquarters of the Western Naval Command for the Warden Navy, Millions of tonnes of goods and cargo are shipped in and out of the city each year, though much less than its sister city. Additionally, serving as the capital city of the Region of Farranac Coast. The city shares a long history of militaristic traditions, being one of several cities that took part in the September Revolts that established the Modern Republic of Pentium but was never invaded or attacked by the King.

History of Jade Cove

Jade Cove itself was often one of the victims of the invasions from the Western Clans in Pentian history, being situated on the western coasts of the nation. The city was built up strongly over its several years of conflict, and has been occupied by foreign invaders several times. However the city has served as a fortress and command center in the west during the North River Federation, and after the integration into the Republic of Pentium. During the Great War, the city was encircled in its entirety by the Southern Union. Despite the hard fighting from the Union troops, the defenders of Jade Cove managed to hold out until reinforcements arrived if only by a sliver of its territory still in their hands.

Geography

Jade Cove is situated on a small hill that overlooks the western sea, over the years the city has expanded down the inclines of the hill and has settlements on the rest of the flatlands that mark the western part of Pentium. The ground has traditionally been used for agriculture and minor manufacturing efforts. Trees are sparse throughout the landscape, and smaller rolling hills dot the countryside to the north.

Economy

The Economy of The City is mostly based off agriculture, trade and commerce, shipping, fishing, tourism and service industries. It is one of the larger port cities of Pentium, though it pales in comparison to Saltbrook Channel's industrial capacity and shipping output. It is still one of the larger local economies within the Republic. One of the larger draws of the city is the historical tourism that has been generated domestically, having some of the most intact historical sites and artifacts of the old Federation and its time as a city state. As well as several items and banners from other nations history.

Law & Government

The city has 11 elected representatives and its mayor, that form its city council that oversee and maintain the bustling economy and social services that are directed by them from the Federal Government, as the port is run and owned by the city government. The city collects the majority of its tax revenue in addition to local taxes raised by the city.. The mayor is elected in a city wide election, and the district council members are elected in roughly equal sections of population across the entire city. The city operates its own police force and fire brigades.
