Centavo is a state in the northwestern region of the The Incorporated States of Cashar. It is bordered by the North Oriental Ocean to the north, the states of Satak and Shakal to the northeast, the state of Nakal to the east, and the state of Qadika to the south. Its capital city is Pavat which is also the capital of the nation of Cashar.

Etymology

The state of Centavo gets its name from Gobet Centavo, the son of a prominent merchant family, who lived in 1215. The word Centavo comes from the emerging language at the time, Monetok. It can be broken into three parts: "cen" "ta" and "vo." The word cen means "heart", ta means "hard", and "vo" means son. Together, it means son hard heart or "son of hard heart." The term "hard heart" is often taken to mean "brave" or "courageous" as having a hard heart means one that will not quiver in fear.

The "vo" in Centavo is actually the earliest known use of the word "vo" in conjunction with a family name. Gobet Centavo was said to be a highly individualistic man who would've preferred to name the then republic after himself. However, his brothers forced him to compromise, insisting that he honor the matriarch of the Centa family, Centa herself. Gobet and his brothers came to a compromise by naming the republic "Centavo" instead, or "son of Centa."
