William Satterlee was an officer of the Delamarian Navy from 1899 to his death in 1963. He is the longest serving officer in Delamarian military history, with a 64 year service record. He attended the Naval Officer College in New Bedford at the age of 16, and within 5 years he commanded his first ship, the corvette DNS Herbert Rye. Satterlee is credited for modernising and reforming the Delamarian Navy, founding the 1st and 2nd Fleets, creating several new naval schools and colleges, and the expansion of the Delamarian Fleet from a local power to being able to operate around the Wurld.
Satterlee did serve under the nationalist McMadden regime, from which he gained a lot of resources to fulfil his ambitions for the navy, however he secretly partook in several operations to overthrow McMadden, and was a close ally of William Charleston, to a point where he ordered naval planes to attack McMadden forces surrounding Bodmonton.
Satterlee was a pivotal commander in the Mediargic Campaign of the First Argic War, and lead most of the naval effort through the war. He created the Dniesterian Free Naval Force in 1949, which consisted of uncaptured sailors of occuped Dniester.
Satterlee had three children, two sons and a daughter. Two of his sons sadly died in navy related incidents, the eldest William Jr. in a failed weapons test, and the other Kenneth during the Sinking of DNS Lurker. His daughter Maureen had four sons, one of which being naval officer Vice Admiral George Satterlee and Senator Henry Satterlee.
