Langueuil is the capital and second most populous city of Gotneska. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. As of 23 November 2020, the municipality of Læniguëuíl had a population of 870,549, while the population of the city's greater urban area was 2,143,513, as of 4 November 2019. The metropolitan area had an estimated population of 2.87 million.

Name and seal

Toponymy

The origin of the name Langueuil dates back to the times of the Aromans. Records show they named the city they where to found after a local tribe by the name Languila. To of which the earliest spelling in latin is Lanlie. By the 1200's it was spelled Langlie.

History

Læniguëuíl has a long and fascinating history. The modern City of Læniguëuíl was founded in 1009, but people have been living in the area for thousands of years before the city was ever created.
