serving as the capital city of the Region of Great March. The city houses several centers for higher education, such as the Blemish Agricultural Institute, Blemish School of Aeronautics, and University of Blemish, it also possess vast quantities of fertile farmland that has been harvested and maintained for thousands of years. Great farm estates that provide produce, meats, dairy and other animal products to The Republic of Pentium. The cities history has not been long within the Republic, as it served as the capital of the Southern States before being annexed into the Republic after the great war. The city still bears much of its history from its pervious allegiances, but in the sixty years since the end of the war the animosity between the city and that nation has diminished significantly. With self governance being given back to the people in the city in 1993 and the formation of a city council afterwards.

History

Capital of the Southern Union

For centuries, Blemish served as the capital for the Southern Union, and Southern States before it. Fulfilling a very close role that it does today in the Republic of Pentium. It was the seat of government for the Southern Union, and where the legislation sat. It was eventually put to siege by the Republic and captured after a year of bitter urban warfare, the walls erected around the city to served as its primary defensive structure provided to be a challenge for the Warden Defense Corp, but were eventually overcome.

Loss of Governance

For several years, the city would remain under the direct control of the administration in Whedon's Row. Like most cities captured during the closing days of the Great War, there was a deep mistrust between the Mesean people that inhabited the city, and their Pentian counterparts. Over the course of a generation, many meseans left the cities that encompassed the former Southern Union as they were uncertain about their future within another state.

Self Rule Restored

In 1993, a delegation of officials from Blemish petitioned Whedon's Row for self governance again. Hundreds of thousands of people within the city, including Pentian citizens who had established themselves within the city had signed the request. After a few months of negotiation, self rule was restored in the city. Giving the people within a voice in government, locally and federally and allowed the city to be restored as the capital for the region it resided in.

Geography

The Geography of Blemish is very flat, with long rolling plains and vast forests.

Economy

The economy of the city focuses heavily around three major industries. Agriculture being the largest of all, with the city being known as the breadbasket of the Nation, it provides massive amounts of foodstuffs and animal products to the rest of the country. Despite some lingering mistrust by people from the rest of the Republic, they cannot deny the massive boon the city has been in the agriculture sector. The city has a large private and public education sector, with several renowned schools and universities residing within the city. Students come to Blemish from abroad to study, and citizens are offered an excellent education while basking in the moderately successful domestic tourism sector. Lastly, aeronautics are the final large sector within the Blemish economy, While the city lacks any large scale manufacturing industries, the city produces some of the finest minds on the study of flight.

Government and Law

The city has 11 elected representatives and its mayor, that form its city council that oversee and maintain the economy, production of foodstuffs and other products and provides social services, the cities robust economy does not require much extra federal funding and is generally profitable for the state. The mayor is elected in a city wide election, and the district council members are elected in roughly equal sections of population across the entire city. The city operates its own police force and fire brigades.
