The "Schennische Fahnenhymne" (Anglish: Schennish Flag Hymn) is the national anthem of Schennland. It was first written during the Schennish Revolution from 1795–1798, when Schennish Republicans rebelled against Dolchland.

History

The song was a collaboration between the poet Andreas Theiss and the composer Friedrich Möller, both of whom were founding fathers of the Schennish Freistaat. The song remained a popular nationalist song throughout the country's history before finally being named the official national anthem in 1983 after the Lily Revolution, which re-established democracy in the country.

Lyrics

Alemannisch Anglish translation
Sei gegrüßt, du uns’res Landes Zeichen,
Die Stromfahne flatternd froh im Wind,
Deine Farben, lieblich ohnegleichen
Leuchten stets, wo uns’re Lehren sind.

Refrain

Blau und Rot,
Die Fahne seh’n wir schweben!
Bis zum Tod
Sind treu wir ihr ergeben!
Blau und Rot,
Die Fahne seh’n wir schweben
Bis zum Tod
Sind treu wir ihr ergeben!

Uns’re Freiheit, die dafür wir kämpften,
Darf bedroht von Tyrannen nicht sein.
Ideale, die das Unrecht dämpften,
Lassen nie und nimmer sich ausleih’n.

Refrain

Die Mission des Freistaats ist erleuchtet,
Mit der Gleichheit und Brüderlichkeit.
Unser Staat ist von uns ganz durchfeuchtet,
Mit der radikalen Glut und Schneid.

Refrain

Lasst uns d’rum auf uns’re Fahne schwören,
Brüder ihm vom Schennach bis zum Leyn:
Niemals soll uns fremder Tand betören,
Treu der Freistaat wollen stets wir sein!

Refrain

Be greeted, token of our land
The river flag merrily flying in the wind
Your hues, peerless and beloved
Shall shine forever where our ideals are.

Refrain:

Blue and red,
We shall see the flag flying!
Until death,
We shall be wholeheartedly true to it!
Blue and red,
We shall see the flag flying!
Until death,
We shall be wholeheartedly true to it!

Our freedoms that we fought for
Must not be threatened by tyrants.
Ideals that curbed injustice
Never can be loaned out.

Refrain

The mission of the republic is enlightened
With equality and fraternity.
Our country is by us fully imbued
With radical fervor and vim.

Refrain

Let us therefore swear on our flag,
Brothers from the Schennach to the Leyn
We shall never be fooled by foreign kitch
We want to hold true to the republic forever.
