Aassanaaq Eegeesiak (born 22 April 1958) is the current Grand Chieftain of the Nation of Nanaviit. He was appointed on 17 September 2012, following Ahnah Keenainak. Eegeesiak is currently serving his second term, which will end in September 2024.
Early Life
Eegeesiak was born on 22 April 1958 in the small fishing village of Amka the administrative town of the Aasqasaiak Tribal Lands which Eegeesiak, father was a Tribal Leader and leader Chief Elder of the tribal lands of Aasqasaiak.
Military Service
During the Gotneskan Civil War, Eegeesiak served in the Gotneskan Special Forces from 1978 to 1998. He supported the Royalist faction against the Parliamentarians. During his service, he achieved the rank of Sergeant Major (E9).
