Saint-Philippe is the capital city of Louvier. As the state capital, it is home to most of the country's political institutions, including the royal residence, the seat of government and parliament. It has a population of about 2.3 million intramural inhabitants. The city was officially the first Lysian settlement founded by Clément du Vent, during his first exploration of Louvier in 1576. The city grew immensley during the 17th century.
