The Serie A is the highest level of the men's Ionian soccer league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it is comprised of private clubs owned by a mix of private owners and publically traded firms. Seasons typically run from Agoust to December with each team playing at least 38 matches. Most games are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with occasional weekday evening fixtures.
The winning team becomes the Ionian Champion while the last three teams are demoted to the Serie B
