The City of Whedon's Row is the capital of the Republic of Pentium, it is one of the most northern cities within the country and one of its oldest as well. The city itself is built into a tall hill and surrounded by an ancient stone wall from days past. The original name of the cities founder has been lost to time, but it is presumed the city is named after the founder. The city also contains the parliament of the Republic of Pentium, the presidential offices and residence. Many of these chambers were built over the old royal institutions that resided in the same area before the abolishment of the monarchy. The city housed 2.3 Million people during the 2023 census and serves as the seat of the regional government, however the two chambers of government are separate entities within the same hall.

History

The history of the city follows very closely to the history of Pentium itself, having served as the capital of two countries. The North River Federation and the Republic of Pentium, only briefly losing the status of the capital to Saltbrook Channel for 3 years during the early formation of the Republic of Pentium. It was restored after the end of the flag convention in 1822. The city has endured for thousands of years, but has seen its fair share of fighting throughout its time as the capital. The city has been under siege several times in its history, once during its independence as a city state, once during the Great War and once during the recent Civil war. The city has been breached numerous times, but has yet to fall to any hostile power in its history. The high walls and excellent defensive layout of the city has seen it through much of its history.

The mayor is elected in a city wide election and not from the council itself. While the government has ties with the regional government and federal government, the three entities are separated and have little to no overlap of responsibility. They run separate administrations, services and collect separate taxes despite being located in the same city and almost within the same building.
