The Velaherian People's Army (VPA) is the armed forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Velaheria (DPRV). At the same time, it serves as the armed wing of the Velaherian People's Party (VPP), which is the DPRV's founding and ruling political party. The VPA has three major service branches: the Ground Force (VPGF), Navy (VPN), Air Force (VPAAF). Besides this, there is also the Velaherian Military Commission (VMC) and several minor units directly under it.

History

The origin of the People's Army was not in the most pompous of ways, as it had been first conceived by the communist party as a guerrilla Force to fight against the theocratic regime of the Dolchordenstaat, in the 1930s, since it's founding, it had been operated by the members of the communist party who later changed their name to the Velaherian People's Party in 1934. For most of its early History, the VPA acted against its primary enemy the Dolchs, by sabotaging infrastructure, looting State treasury, by ransoming key politicians, murder, terror attacks, and other nefarious acts, which made it well known and loved among the lower ranks of the Velaherian society, due to their harsh treatment by the Dolchic lords and governors, which further strengthened the manpower pool that the VPA could recruit further conscripts from and use them to fight against the Royal Forces of the Dolchordenstaat.

The major transformation of the Velaherian People's Army came with the onset of the Velaherian War of Liberation. This conflict began after the Dolchordenstaat decided to implement harsh religious laws that were detrimental to the ethnic Velaherians. The laws were mainly focused on promoting further Dolchic ideals on the people. Later research revealed how the actual reason for the start of this conflict was the execution of several communist sympathisers by the religious order.
