The BFG, formerly known as the BFGG is a Economic Pact that spans the nations of Baltica, Florentia and Garindina. Having been created in 1964, to help facilitate the trade of Alcohol, the BFG has since expanded as an economic pact, and now helps facilitate the trade of multiple goods, as well as promote investment between its member states. The BFG has been credited for creating over a billion ADS in terms of trade between Baltica, Florentia and Garindina, and has been crucial in creating definitive ties between the three nations. As of 2010, the former member state of Gotneska has left the alliance, primarily due to the unresolved issue of slavery within Florentia, but with Gotneskas exit, the nation of Omaksa has already applied for membership within the BFG, and is expected to join some time soon in 2022. Both Baltica and Garindina had also left the BFG in the past due to political instability during their civil wars, but have since both rejoined the BFG as core member states.
History
The first iteration of the BFG was known as the Inner Seas Alcohol Trade Pact, and existed between Garindina and Baltica who at the time were large alcohol producers, with the pact allowing them to better manage the trade of alcohol between themselves. This early pact was fairly minor, primarily due to the Isolationist policies pursued by Baltica during the reign of the Republic Government. Meanwhile, Florentia, which remained globally ostracised due to the continued use of Slavery in its various provinces, was also seeking trade partners to help develop its fledgling economy. This would ultimately result in the creation of the “Tobacco Pact” between Florentia and Baltica, with Baltica being a large producer of cigarettes, whilst Florentia was a large supplier of tobacco. These two trade pacts would be merged on June 10th 1964, and became collectively known as the BFG Economic Alliance, with the three letters corresponding to its three founding states, Baltica, Florentia and Garindina. Over time, the BFG expanded heavily, and began to help facilitate the trade of multiple different goods between its core states, which included but was not limited to, textiles, agricultural produce, consumer goods, recreational drugs and fish. As the alliance grew, it also began to encourage heavy investment between Garindina, Baltica and Florentia respectively, and saw the growth of various large industries between the alliance's members, as well as the establishment of various subsidiary companies.
Gotneska would join the BFG in 1998, and participated with some of the existing trade and economic activity between its member states, with the exception of Florentia with which Gotneska traded very little with. Subsequently, the same year Garindina went through its Civil War, which proved highly damaging to Garindina with the war only concluding in 1998, but killing over 4.5 million. Garindina would however rejoin the pact the same year, but trade within the BFG fell considerably due to its temporary absence, and the damage caused by the war.
In 2010, after the formation of ANTFAS (Assembled Nations Task Force for the Abolition of Slavery), Gotneska would publically call out Florentia for its continued practice of slavery, and would subsequently leave the BFG shortly after. In 2022, the Republic of Baltica would collapse into civil war that lasted for a majority of the year, and would see it leave the BFG temporarily. However, after the conclusion of the war with the Federalists ultimetly winning, Baltica rejoined the BFG in July of 2022.
Organisation
The BFG Investment Committee
The BFG Investment Committee (BFIC) is a committee composed of representatives from each of the member states within the BFG, and is responsible for approving and overseeing investments made by firms or governments within the BFG. The primary purpose of the BFGIC is to facilitate and promote investment between the member states. It serves as a platform for proposing and evaluating Investment plans and opportunities, with the aim of fostering economic growth, development and cooperation within the alliance. By coordinating investment activities the committee helps create a conducive environment for businesses and governments to engage in cross-border investments and has proved crucial in fostering ties between members of the BFG.
Work
Headquarters
Historically, the headquarters of the BFG was situated in Goja the former Baltican capital. This was because Baltica acted as a mediary when establishing trade ties between Garindina and Florentia and as such, its capital proved a good location for the new alliance. However, during the Baltican Civil War in 2022, Baltica would unofficially leave the BFG due to the political instability the nation underwent during its conflict, and the headquarters of the BFG was moved to Yuzhemore within Garindina. Although Baltica has since lobbied for the Headquarters to be moved back into Goja, or even the new capital of Kauni, the current headquarters remains in Garindina, and is likely to for the foreseeable future.
