The Gallambrian Armed Forces, also known as His Majesty's Armed Forces, are the military services responsible for the defence of Gallambria and it's overseas territories. They also promote Gallambria's wider interests, support international peacekeeping efforts and provide humanitarian aid.

The Gallambrian Armed Forces consist of the Royal Gallambrian Navy, a blue-water navy; the Gallambrian Army, Gallambria's principle land warfare branch; and the Royal Gallambrian Air Force, a technologically sophisticated air force with a diverse operational fleet. The Gallambrian Armed Forces include permanent standing forces, Regular Reserve, Volunteer Reserve and a National Service Component.

Its Commander-in-chief is the Gallambrian monarch, currently King Albert II, to whom all members of the forces swear allegiance. The Gallambrian Parliament Approves the continued existence of the Gallambrian Armed Forces by passing an Armed Forces Act at least every three years. The Armed Forces are part of a unique diarchy, where the Chief of the Defence Staff reports directly to the Secretary of State for Defence, through the Defence Council.

Gallambria is a founding member of the TRIDENT military alliance, and is party to a number of multilateral and bilateral defence, security and intelligence arrangements.

Ministry of Defence

As part of the Defence Diarchy, the Ministry of Defence maintains a number of civilian agencies under the Gallambrian Defence Organisation's umbrella. Although they are civilian, they play a vital role in support Armed Forces operations.

Recruitment

All three services of the Gallambrian Armed Forces recruit primarily from within Gallambria, although citizens from the External Territories are equally eligible to join. The minimum recruitment age is 16 years (although personnel may not serve on armed operations below 18 years, and if under 18 must also have parental consent to enlist); the maximum recruitment age is 40 for regular roles and 50 for reserve roles. At present, the yearly intake into the armed forces is capped at 16,500.

Since, 2010, sexual orientation has not been a factor considered in recruitment, and homosexuals or transgendered people can serve openly in the armed forces. All branches of the forces have actively recruited at Gay Pride events. The armed forces keep no formal figures concerning the number of LGBTQI service personnel, saying that the sexual or gender orientation of personnel is considered irrelevant and not monitored.
